Some Cycling Dates

Tour of East Lothian
Date : Sunday Feb 23rd
Distance : 105kms
Start : Musselburgh

This organised by Musselburgh RCC under the auspices of Audax Scotland. It is important to note that Audax events are not races. A maximum and minimum average speed is specified for each event, in this case 30km and 12.5km per hour.

A few club members have already expressed an interest in doing this, if you would like some company on the day or more information about the event, please e-mail me.

Development Series Road Race
Date
: Saturday Feb 29th
Distance : 50 miles
Start :
Wellwood, Fife

This is a series of road races normally about 50miles distance aimed at introducing people to road racing. More information and an entry form can be gained from the link above.

CTC 125 Anniversary Ride
Date : Sunday 4th May
Distance : 16 miles to 125 miles
Start : Various, but all start from or pass through Gifford.

This event is aimed at celebrating the CTC's 125 anniversary. It is aimed at members and non-members alike.

The rides all pass through Gifford and include:

A 25k ride starting at Gifford - specially designated as a family ride and for those who would wish to take a car out there with bikes on the back and do all the riding out in the country
A 50k ride starting at Fisherrow, going to Gifford and returning to Musselburgh
A 125k ride via North Berwick (or East Linton) and Stenton to Gifford, starting and finishing at Fisherrow - this has various options for chopping off sections
And for the heavies - a 200k (125 mile to keep in with the '125' theme) via Peebles, Soutra & Humbie, to Gifford and returning round the North Berwick area
All of these would pass through Gifford in the period 1pm to 4pm (we hope) where teas will be available.

The first two of these could appeal to many Spokes members, for example, and we would hope that the 200k one would be attractive to Audax riders and to members of the ERC and other racing organisations.

A small charge will be made which covers the cost of providing route cards and includes the home-made scone and cake at Gifford. CTC would like to sell these in advance to help the kind people in the village who are doing the catering.

Fuller details and a booking form are available from the CTC web site.
